What is the difference between therapy and coaching?
Trauma Therapy
Available to clients within my state of licensure (Alabama)
Therapy provides a clinical, evidence-informed space for healing, emotional processing, and deeper psychological work. Therapy is appropriate for clients seeking support with mental health symptoms, trauma recovery, relationship patterns, emotional regulation, or long-standing concerns impacting daily life.
Therapy may include:
- Assessment, diagnosis, and treatment planning
- Trauma processing through modalities such as Brainspotting or somatic-based therapy
- Exploration of attachment wounds and relational patterns
- Identifying and shifting cognitive, emotional, and behavioral cycles
- Developing emotional regulation strategies
- Addressing anxiety, depression, and PTSD
- Support through transitions, grief, or early-life trauma
- Integrating mind, body, and nervous-system approaches in a clinically grounded way
Therapy is clinical and treatment-oriented, offering depth that coaching cannot provide.
Therapy is not available to clients outside the therapist’s licensed state due to legal and ethical regulations.

Coaching is appropriate for individuals who are not in crisis, emotionally stable, and seeking practical, supportive guidance as part of their personal growth journey.
As a licensed therapist, I maintain clear separation between therapy and coaching. If a client’s needs fall into the realm of clinical work (such as trauma processing, acute emotional instability, substance use concerns, or mental health evaluation) I will refer them to a qualified mental health professional within their home country or state.
